T Pots Pottery is offering art-intensive summer camps with fun and creative art projects that relate to the specific weekly theme using different art forms and mediums. The emphasis will be in ceramics; wheel throwing and handbuilding kids will also be doing other art forms including encaustics, fused glass, mosaics and more! Fridays in June, starting June 11Thursday through Monday, July through Sept. 6, 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Parents can enjoy a guilt-free round of golf, day of mountain biking, or shopping in the Village at Northstar with Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort’s summer program for children ages 4 – 12. The Kid’s Adventure Program offers a fun, interactive learning experience through nature hikes, games and activities.andamp;#8226; Chipmunks (ages 4-6), hiking adventure and discovery along the West Martis Creek Loop or Sunset Loop Trail.andamp;#8226; Bears (ages 7-12), hiking adventure and discovery along the West Martis Creek Loop, Sunset Loop Trail, Crossover to Zephyr or Sawmill Trail.Cost $69 for the entire day, 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m. includes lunch and snacks. Got Music andamp; More, a Truckee-based noprofit, will offer four separate music camps this summer through the Truckee-Donner Recreation and Park District. Called andamp;#8220;Summer Jams Camps andamp;#8212; Hot Music Learning for Youth,andamp;#8221; each camp will have its own focus, theme and activities, and will be taught by professional musicians and teachers at the Community Arts Center from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Need-based partial scholarships are available on a first-come, first-serve basis to use towards the $245 fee. A minimum of 12 and maximum of 20 students will be enrolled. A tried and true summer tradition is Camp Skylandia. A summer day camp offered by the Tahoe City Public Utility District, Department of Parks and Recreation. Tahoe City has offered Camp Skylandia for more than 25 years, a day camp that runs eight weeks during the summer. Located in Skylandia Park, in Lake Forest just east of Tahoe City, right on the lake with a forest and a beautiful meadow for the playground. Everyday offers arts and crafts, sports and games in a wonderful outdoor environment. Start off the day with a campfire circle, where all the campers and counselors sing and play games and do very silly skits to get to know each other. Then break off into groups according to ages which range from 3 years to 14 years of age. Bambi Buckaroos: Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m., the ages are 3.5-5, this program includes mini-hikes, cooking, nature awareness, crafts, beach play, singing and fun.Kinder Kamp: Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., entering or continuing kindergarten. Camp includes: Recreational activities including hiking, swimming, nature exploration, crafts, beach play, singing, games and field trips.Camp Skylandia: Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m., grades 1-5. Large group games, arts and crafts, weekly field trips, beach time and creative weekly special events. Counselor in Training Program, CIT: Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m., grades 6-9. Designed for those campers who are interested in becoming Junior Counselors. They will help with the other counselors in assisting with games and arts and crafts. The CIT’s also plan the special event on Friday. Most of our counselors are returning campers and would love to share their fun experiences of fond childhood memories of Tahoe with other children. Wondering what there is for tweens and young teens this summer? Truckee-Donner Recreation andamp; Park District’s Camp Radical offers action packed outdoor adventures geared for kids entering grades 6-10 in the fall. Each week has a theme with related activities. Camp Rad is a travel camp, which means we go different places daily. Activities include everything from white water rafting to rock climbing, kayaking to skateboarding, waterparks to the Lake Tahoe Environmental Center, and overnights. Our highlighted overnight trips this year are: Whitewater rafting and camping on the American River and goldpanning where gold was discovered in California, 6 Flags in Vallejo with a tour of the jelly belly factory and a stop in Old Sac on the way home, Giants game in SF with a visit to China Town and Fisherman’s Wharf and Kayak Intensive week with our overnight boat-in only camp for fishing, swimming, exploring and paddling. Camp Rad is the place to be for fun and adventure outdoors in the Tahoe Sierra this summer! Trained and certified staff brings their expertise in the outdoors, outdoor education, recreation and safety to create memorable experiences for our kids. Two week-long sessions, July 19-23 and July 26-30, ages 4-14Camps operated by Gateway Mountain CenterGateway Mountain Center programs balance field science instruction, hiking, and reflection. We emphasize active learning that is cooperative, fun, and provocative. Destinations are chosen by our staff to illustrate themes and concepts and to provide a meaningful outdoor experience. Group safety; trail conditions, group cooperation and fitness levels are taken into account in determining a day’s activities. Days on the trail will include natural history learning activities and games, team building exercises, and journaling and reflection time. Your child will learn new and exciting skills quickly and have an amazing time. Sign up early andamp;#8230; camps fill fast! Children work on body positions, stretches, flexibility, balance, strength, floor (tumbling), climbing rope, bar, vault, beam, rings and trampoline. Curriculum and instruction follow the USA Gymnastics Levels 1 – 4 and USAG Safety Guidelines.Skills include: cartwheel, head stand, hand stand (with walk, forward roll), vault to handstand, press handstand, round off-rebound, straddle hang, forward and backward rolls (floor and beam), dive rolls, back extension roll, straddle jump, tuck jump, seat drop, tree fall, bridge (kick over), back walkover, kick walk, bear walk, scale, pivot turn, re-grips, pull over, cast and back hip circle.
