Sunshine letter: Students’ environmental stewardship appreciated

TAHOE CITY, Calif. – Sierra Watershed Education Partnerships (SWEP) would like to thank North Tahoe sixth-grade teachers, their students, North Tahoe Fire, the Sugar Pine Foundation and Chinquapin homeowners for an amazing day of environmental stewardship. Students planted 350 blister rust resistant sugar pine trees, collected forest density data, and learned about Sierra forest and fire ecology. Partnerships are the cornerstone of SWEP projects and programs. Our partners provide opportunities for “real world” application of the classroom curriculum. Thanks again to those partners who gave their time and expertise to foster the next generation of environmental stewards.- Christine McMorrow
