Sunshine letters from Truckee Tahoe

Truckee Rotary, Soroptimist International Truckee Donner and the families of Church of the Mountains Preschool: Since 1985 our little school has committed itself to touching the lives of young children by encouraging imagination, curiosity and promoting literacy. In 1999 we began a community outreach program, Read to Me, along with Truckee Rotary. In the last 10 years we have been able to distribute thousands of book bags and thousands of books to families of young children in our community. By encouraging parents to read to their children and value literature in their lives we know that they will enjoy a richer, fuller life. Thank you to Truckee Rotary, Soroptimist International of Truckee Donner, Dr. Chris Arth and the families of Church of the Mountains Preschool for supporting this important program. We couldnandamp;#8217;t do this program without your help! Sincerely,Eileen Lyon, DirectorDianne Fix, Assistant DirectorChurch of the Mountains Preschool

The Family Resource Center of Truckee would like to express a huge thank-you to the many community members and businesses that helped us move to our new location at 11695 Donner Pass Road. The donations of time, money, and supplies for cleaning, painting, and moving made it possible for us to open and begin serving clients in our new home without an interruption in services on which clients rely. Big Thanks to ACE Mountain Hardware andamp; Sports and to our painting volunteer group: Dr. Chris Arth, Dr. Chris Richards, Andrea Richards, James Lee, Maia Schneider, Javier Ruiz, Juan Aguilar and Irene and Frank Schneller. We are so grateful for the outpouring of community support and hope that everyone who helped us knows they played a major role in furthering the FRCandamp;#8217;s goal of building community, one family at a time.Once again andamp;#8212; Thank you! For anyone who would like to help the FRCT and itandamp;#8217;s clients or make a donation, please visit us at http://www.truckeefrc.org.andamp;#8212; Staff and Board of Directors, Family Resource Center of Truckee

Once again, the Truckee Optimist Club has successfully raised significant profits through our annual Christmas tree sales. All of the proceeds from these sales will be used for scholarships and numerous sports and education programs for our youth. This endeavor would not have been possible without the ongoing support and generosity of Save-Mart Supermarkets. Their generous donation of parking space in their shopping center made possible our successful endeavor. Save-Mart Supermarkets has a credo of andamp;#8220;giving back to their communitiesandamp;#8221; and this was a vivid display of that corporate belief and their effort to truly be a part of the community in which they do business. CVS Drugs has been a sponsor and friend of our tree sales for many years and we would like to also thank them for their support. Furthermore, we would like to thank Truckee Tahoe Propane, Village Pizzeria and the Tahoe-Truckee Disposal Company for their generosity. We would also like to extend our deepest appreciation to our customers and the numerous individuals that have given their time to make this program successful. andamp;#8212; Dan Oandamp;#8217;Gorman, president
