Tahoe City SnowFest! Parade | Vulcans, floats and the shovel brigade to return

TAHOE CITY, Calif. andamp;#8212; The traditional Tahoe City SnowFest! Parade will turn main street into a festive affair Saturday, March 3, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on North Lake Boulevard (Highway 18) in downtown Tahoe City from the Lighthouse Shopping Center to the andamp;#8220;Y.andamp;#8221;Highway 28 will be closed for the parade from just east of the Lighthouse Shopping Center to the junction with Highway 89 for approximately one hour. There will be no detour.Announcers for the parade will be at the Blue Agave and Rosieandamp;#8217;s Caf. The Post Parade Party will be at Pete andamp;#8217;n Peters. Events in Tahoe City following the parade will be Paint the Bear at the North Tahoe Arts Center and Stohlgren Bros. Ice Cream Eating Contest at the Tahoe City Fire Station.This yearandamp;#8217;s parade will feature old favorites including the North Lake Tahoe Kiwanis Snow Shovel Drill Team, the St. Paul Winter Carnival Vulcans and the SnowFest! Tahoe Miners. Returning this year for the fourth time will be andamp;#8220;Those Guys from Wisconsin,andamp;#8221; a group of visitors who discovered the SnowFest! Parade five years ago, asked if they could participate, and have been having SnowFest! Parade fun ever since.Sponsors for the Tahoe City Parade are the Rotary Club of Tahoe City, Liberty Utilities, U.S. Bank and the Tahoe Truckee Civil Air Patrol Cadets. The North Lake Tahoe Resort Association is the SnowFest! presenting sponsor. Other SnowFest! sponsors include Coors Light, Tahoe TV and Beam Global, Gar Woods Grill andamp; Pier, The Weekly, PrintArt, Charter Media and the Sierra Sun are also SnowFest! sponsors.
