Join Girls on the Run andamp;#8212; Sierras, Sunday, June 5 at 9 a.m. for the New Balance/Girls on the Run 5K and newly added 10K Fun Run, Truckee River View Sports Park, 12200 Joerger Drive, off Soaring Way. The event is open to the entire community andamp;#8212; runners, walkers, children and strollers are all welcome (please, no dogs). Online pre-registration through June 3. Cost for 5K is $20; families of four (two adults, two kids) $50; online pre-registration for the 10K is $30 at http://www.girlsontherunsierras.org. On race day, 5K is $25 and 10K is $35. Youths age 5-12 are $10 pre-registered, $15 event day. Event festivities include music, games, a great raffle and food for purchase. Registration and pre-race festivities begin at 9 a.m., 10K run starts promptly at 9:30 a.m.; 5K at 10 a.m. Participating in this event will help raise money for a program that creates strong, confident women of the future.

Summer Day Camp Cheerleading and Tumbling, June 27-July 1, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., cost is $95 all week, one day drop in $25. For grades K-eighth Glenshire Club House, Truckee. Perform with the TNT andamp; PDC Championship teams at the July 4 Truckee Parade. Have fun learning cheer motions, stunts and energized cheer dances and the coolest Hip Hop moves and basic tumbling skills. Safety is always first while learning stunting skills and tumbling skills. Please wear comfortable clothes, and bring lunch, bathing suit sun block and lots of water. Swimming in pool everyday. Coach Teri McKinney and team members will instruct. Join Olympian, LUNA Pro, and Truckee resident Katerina Nash for the Third Annual Cross Country Skills Clinic, Tuesday, June 28. Participants will work on technical mountain biking skills that will help push their limits in cross country mountain biking. The clinic will be held at Northstar-at-Tahoe from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Meet at the gondola. Clinic participants are asked to bring a $15 donation for the Breast Cancer Fund. A LUNA goody bag will be included with clinic registration. Participation in the clinic will not require a lift ticket or downhill pass.
