Tahoe’s West Shore Creekside Cooperative to hold Souper Bowl
April 28, 2009
On Saturday, May 2, Creekside Cooperative, a K-5 learning center of Forest Charter School, will host its annual fundraiser, The Souper Bowl at the Rideout Community Center.
The community may enjoy soups served in bowls painted by kindergarten through fifth grade students, who will also provide the entertainment. Appetizers, dessert, coffee and tea are included.
Children attending the event will enjoy crafts, including face painting, hat making, paint spinning and games. There will also be an opportunity to paint bowls with the folks from All Fired Up at a special rate of $15.
John Walsh of Sierra Sports Care and Chiropractic will host a live auction. Raffle tickets are on sale through Creekside students and will be at the event. The grand prize is a three day/two night stay at the historic Sand Rock Farm in Santa Cruz/Aptos, a whale watching excursion and gas card.
This event provides a chance to meet the school’s staff, parents and student, and to learn about the school’s program and educational philosophy. Creekside Cooperative is an innovative hybrid model of education operating within an Independent Study format for families seeking alternatives to traditional education in the Tahoe-Truckee area. Proceeds from this event will directly fund the school’s Enrichment Program which provides experiential workshops in art, gardening, hands-on science and technology exploration, downhill and cross country skiing, watershed education, music, drama and more.
Tickets are $15 for adults (kids are free) and are on sale at the Stony Ridge Uncommon Kitchen, All Fired Up and Creekside Cooperative Administrative Office. Tickets are also available at the door. West Side Pizza in Tahoma will donate 10 percent of its sales that night to the Creekside Cooperative PTO.
