The Soule Domain: Artist reception for Sara Smith Oct. 27 in Kings Beach

KINGS BEACH, Calif. and#8212; Sarah L. Smith is an artist in the Lake Tahoe region of California, working a variety of themes in a variety of media, many times utilizing found or and#8220;re-purposedand#8221; materials. The Soule Domain will host an artist opening/reception for Sarah Wednesday, Oct.27, 4-6 p.m. with half price beverages and complimentary light hors dand#8217;oeuvre at 9983 Cove St., Kings Beach.
Sarah is continually inspired by the complexities of human nature and our relationships with one another, as well as with the natural world. Professionally she is an easel painter, a muralist and an illustrator. She works primarily in acrylic on a variety of surfaces, though her painting is healthily augmented with works in pen and ink, watercolor, oils, collage and fiber.
She greatly enjoys the collaborative nature of commission work, and strives to express the unique needs of each client within the individual project. She is currently developing the framework for a series of community art projects that hope to give a forum for the talent and inspirations found within our region.
Her personal work encompasses a range of imagery but touches on consistent themes and#8230; such as the complex relationships of the individual to society, the shifting nature of perception and illusion and the limits of individual observation and experience. She draws from historical and circumstantial contexts and likes to use elements of realism as a tool to invite broader discussion. –
In addition to being an artist, Sara calls herself: and#8220;A mother, a partner, a wanna-be creative writer, an active community member, a political junkie, an avid reader, an outdoor enthusiast, and an interested observer of history, socio-cultural dynamics and the individualand#8217;s experience of the world.and#8221; She states that: and#8220;These and other things inform my life and my work, which continues to evolve as the world around me evolves.and#8221;
