Trivia Night to benefit Truckee skate park

TRUCKEE andamp;#8212; The Truckee Skatepark Coalition launches Trivia Night in Downtown to raise money for the Truckee skatepark.Best Pies Pizzeria and Restaurant in Downtown Truckee is hosting the first Trivia Night, potentially the start to a twice-monthly event, Tuesday, May 31, 6:30-9 p.m.Teams of five people will play three rounds of trivia then play a bonus round of andamp;#8220;name-that-song.andamp;#8221; Trivia questions include pop-culture, area history, miscellaneous and unrelated facts plus a few curve balls. Several area businesses have donated prizes for the first three rounds and the big winner of the night will walk away with a cash prize of $50.Truckee Skatepark is a heavily used public amenity in the Tahoe Truckee area in the summer months. Area skateboarders organized to help Truckee-Donner Recreation andamp; Parks Department raise the necessary funds to improve the site and better serve the community. andamp;#8220;Itandamp;#8217;s important that everyone take ownership of this,andamp;#8221; said Truckee skateboarder Brendan Hayes. andamp;#8220;Itandamp;#8217;s all of our park and itandamp;#8217;s up to us to make it better.andamp;#8221;Trivia night will be the first in a series of fundraisers, Best Pies Pizzeria andamp; Restaurant, 1008 Donner Pass Road, Truckee. A $7 donation is encouraged. All ages welcome. The second Trivia Night date will be announced in the coming weeks. The coalition is planning a bigger and more high-profile fundraiser to reach its major funding goals in the fall.
