Truckee business one of the fastest growing in U.S.

Clear Capital, one of Truckee’s largest employers, was recently ranked as one of the top private companies in the United States.
And for a budding company that’s still looking to grow, $27 million in revenue last year wasn’t a shabby prize either.
Clear Capital is a mortgage banking company that provides data and risk assessments to loan servicers and issuers. In just five years, the company has expanded from an office in Truckee to coverage in all 50 states with reported revenue growth of more than 1,720 percent in that time. From the looks of things, co-founders Duane Andrews and Kevin Marshall have no intention of slowing down.
Inc., an industry magazine for American entrepreneurs, published the Inc. 500 in its September issue. Similar to the Forbes 500, the Inc. list showcases the fastest growing privately owned companies in the states. Clear Capital was ranked No. 30, and was the highest rated real estate-oriented company on the list.
“We like to think of ourselves as small town guys who like to treat people really well,” Marshall said.
Clear Capital is now running along side other Inc. 500 names that include the likes of Bill Gates; Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia; Sharper Image; Jenny Craig; Timberland shoes; Clif Bar and more.

“From day one we have had a commitment to never failing our customers,” Andrews said. “Our staff will never give up. That element of focus is a good groundwork for a lot of other things.”
More than 110 employees ” many of them local ” work for Clear Capital, with 40 new positions still open. Employees figure property values, interact with Wall Street moneymen and occasionally take breaks to recharge their batteries on the office skate ramp.
Last year, just more than 30 people worked there.
To ensure that they’ve got plenty of high quality up-and-comers to fill positions years down the road, Andrews established a nonprofit this year called Career Builder, an educational program that brings area teens and industry professionals together for resume development, career presentations and hands-on activities.
“We saw how many careers we were generating inside Clear Capital and we wanted to spread that out of the office,” Andrews said. “There are a lot of great businesses in Truckee, but not a great amount of industry diversity, so we decided to bring the industries to the kids.”
Clear Capital also contributes to the community through volunteer service, the sponsorship of local athletic teams and donations to local nonprofits. This year they are the lead sponsor for Tahoe Women’s Service’s annual Chocolate Festival.
