Truckee Day announced

Truckee Day is an annual town-wide street clean up and community block party event the first Saturday in June and is organized by a volunteer committee and supported by donations from sponsors. Last year nearly 800 community members picked up an impressive 6.5 tons of road side litter. This yearand#8217;s event is Saturday, June 5 with Town Wide Street Clean Up 8 a.m.-noon and the Block Party including live music and free barbecue for participants at Truckee Regional Park noon-2:30 p.m.

How it works: On Saturday, June 5, go to the neighborhood check in station nearest you between 8-9 a.m. For a list of stations, visit Wear sturdy shoes and clothing, donand#8217;t forget hat, sunscreen and gloves. Sign the volunteer waiver and your neighborhood Champion will provide you with clean up bags, street assignments, a free Truckee Day thank you gift and a lunch ticket for the barbecue at Regional Park.

The goal is to clean the roadside of every road in town; however, volunteer numbers will dictate the total mileage and streets to be cleaned. It is anticipated roads will be cleaned in order of use: Primary roads will be the priority, then the secondary roads, and so on. The bags will be picked up by Tahoe Truckee Sierra Disposal.
