Truckee River Downhill Fun Raiser to benefit Kiwanis, Disabled Sports USA

TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8212; Enjoy the river for a day and a great cause with the Kiwanis Club of North Lake Tahoe, June 19, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., from Silver Creek to Granite Flats Campground on the Truckee River. Proceeds to benefit Kiwanis, Disabled Sports USA and its support of Wounded Warriors. This 4-mile river race will be run on class I-II beginner whitewater with awards in six categories. Rafts of four or less participants, rafts of five or more participants, single inflatable kayaks, double inflatable kayaks, hard shell boats, most outlandish team costumes.

Race registration and sign up Sunday, June 19, 9-11 a.m. at the south end of Granite Flats Campground. Race starts at 11:30 a.m. by category and fees are $30 per person. Bring your own equipment or rent it: Rafts, $125, single inflatable kayak $30 and double inflatable kayaks $45.

Transportation of all racers and equipment will be provided to put-in at Silver Creek Campground. Hot dogs, baked beans and refreshments to be served after the race at the finish line at Granite Flats Campground.

For more information, pre-registration and to reserve rentals in advance call 530-581-0755. All participants will be asked to sign a release of liability and will be required to wear a Coast Guard approved life jacket during the race.
