Art and music and wine combine for a Meet the Artists opening reception at North Tahoe ARTS (NTA) in Tahoe City, June 5, from 4 to 7 p.m. Seven artists are featured in the Corison Loft in the ART of Food Exhibit and Deb Rose’s andamp;#8220;Nouveau Pageandamp;#8221; is showing the Main Gallery. andamp;#8220;My favorite subjects are the ocean, Lake Tahoe, boats and Sierra landscapes,andamp;#8221; says Rose. Shows through June 28. Johnny Bias will entertain, Rominger West will pour and appetizers will be served. Fabulous First Friday is here again! Go to Brickelltown from 4 to 8 p.m. on June 5. In Riverside Studios the theme is GRASS, pottery, leather goodness, photos, paintings and more. Drake andamp; LuLu’s Art Shed will be hosting an open reception with oil paintings by Kathryn Hutter. Sample Fair andamp; Green’s fair trade yumables. The Feather’s Edge will knock your socks off with off the hook eco-gifts. Quartet Minus One will rock the house. Thirst quenching beverages, tasty snacks and more than 20 local artists. America’s Most Beautiful Bike Ride participants will ride clockwise around Lake Tahoe. Traffic will be delayed on north-bound Hwy 89, Emerald Bay Road from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. at Spring Creek Tract. Southbound Hwy 89 will remain open. The remaining roadways will be open. Motorists are asked to share the roadway and plan a little more time to get to their destinations.
On June 7, two dogs rescued from the infamous Michael Vick Bad Newz Kennels will be andamp;#8220;pets of honorandamp;#8221; at the Sixth Annual Truckee Duckee Derbee andamp; Dogs in Duds Contest at the River Ranch Lodge.The Truckee Duckee Derbee rubber duck races benefit the Humane Society of Truckee/Tahoe, and the afternoon’s festivities include live music on the outdoor patio, a BBQ, drink and food specials, a fabulous raffle and the hilarious Dogs in Duds K-9 costume contest. Girls on the Run will be looking for volunteers to help run their andamp;#8220;New Balance Girls on the Run 5k Fun Runandamp;#8221; event on June 7, from 9 a.m. to noon at the River View Sports Park, 12200 Joerger Drive. Whether you help with registration and goody-bag hand out, flip burgers, be a andamp;#8220;clapperandamp;#8221; or andamp;#8220;huggerandamp;#8221; at the finish line your support is needed and appreciated. The Annual Tahoe Arts Festival, an Italian street painting art and cultural event will return to the Tahoe Biltmore Lodge andamp; Casino, July 11 and 12. Local and regional artists are invited to participate and transform the Biltmore andamp;#8220;Piazzaandamp;#8221; into a romantic setting of old world Italian charm. Participation is free.
