Join the Lake Tahoe Water Trail for their Fall Paddle Day at Zephyr Cove Lodge, Oct. 9, 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Paddle from the Historic Zephyr Cove Lodge with researchers at the forefront of protecting Lake Tahoe from aquatic invasive species. And then enjoy lunch at a beach barbecue. Cost is $30 per person, $50 per couple includes lunch (members $25 per person, $45 per couple). Kayak rental available on site. Friends and family along with the Rotary Club of Truckee are hosting a fundraiser for longtime Truckee local, Rotarian and business owner Chris Matthew, Saturday, Oct. 9, 5-8 p.m. at the Truckee Community Center. Chris recently underwent both a heart and lung transplant. The fundraiser will be a Spaghetti feed, no host bar, live music, auction and raffle will be on tap. Tickets are $10 per person. Purchased in advance at the Community Center or call Jody Poe at 550-1186. Auction items include a ski weekend packages, ski passes, rounds of golf, concert tickets and much more! Donations can be made through the Rotary Club of Truckee. All proceeds from the event will go to the Chris Matthew Heart and Lungs Transplant Fund.
The Donner Run at West End Beach in Truckee will be held Oct. 10, 8 a.m. with 5K, 10K and 1K children’s run options. The fun run is on a scenic low traffic course, and is followed with a complimentary breakfast on the shore of Donner Lake. The lake-front start and finish area will feature music, fun, and post-run breakfast. Bring family and friends and save $6. Youths 17 and under are half price, and the 1K Kids Run is only $9. Registration includes participation in your choice of run distance, feed/drink stations, a Tahoe Run Mile Stone necklace, Tahoe Run silicone wristband, Tahoe Run car decal and a wonderful breakfast at the lake.
