Truckee AYSO is holding soccer registration at the Community Arts Center on Church Street, May 20 and 25, 5:30-7:30 p.m. Divisions include U6-U19. Cost is $70 per child, by cash or checks only. Forms and info is available at http://www.truckeeAYSO.org. Volunteers are needed.

May is National Osteoporosis Awareness/Prevention Month. As a community service, NaturaMed Natural Family Medicine in Kings Beach is proud to offer a free osteopenia / osteoporosis screening using ultrasound bone density technology. Ultrasound technology has a high correlation to “gold standard” DXA analysis. The Truckee-Donner Recreation & Park District will offer four bocce ball leagues this summer and spaces are filling up fast. The leagues are scheduled to start play the week of June 6 and run until Aug. 25. The cost of the league is $140 per team and it is open to all ages. Teams usually consist of four to eight players. In honor of National Physical Fitness and Sports Month in May, Jazzercise instructor Ginny Smith is offering two free weeks to all new students.Classes are held at the North Tahoe Event Center in Kings Beach, Monday through Saturday, 8:45 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday. Take control of your own bike maintenance and empower yourself on the trail. Join the LUNA Chix for a hands-on maintenance clinic Sunday, May 22, 1-3 p.m. Bring your bike and all of the gear/tools you normally bring on your rides. Be prepared to get dirty and have fun. If you are the parent of a student who will be attending seventh through 12th grades next year in the Tahoe Truckee School District, you should be aware of the new state requirement to get a Pertussis booster shot, before students can begin classes in the fall.
