Full Circle Movement will host a Gyrotonic Educational Event on Wednesday, April 29, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Join the staff for an evening of interactive demonstrations and learn how Gyrotonic can enhance your life.With a wide range of applications, from sport performance and rehabilitation to body awareness and health, the benefits include core strengthening, body alignment, increased range of motion, coordination and balance and overall fitness.Full Circle Movement is a fully equipped Gyrotonic and Pilates studio. On April 1, 2009 Monica Bocks, ACSM Health/Fitness Instructor, celebrated a decade of teaching fitness classes in Truckee. During the past 10 years Bocks has instructed senior aerobics, water aerobics, body sculpture and stability ball classes. Along with teaching group fitness classes, Bocks is a certified Wellcoach and personal trainer. Currently Monica is teaching body sculpture class at the Truckee Community Center. Classes focus on training the entire body for the activities of daily living with low impact aerobics and weight training.Bocks also teaches stability ball classes, which focus on core muscles of the abdomen and balance.Bocks believes taking care of yourself is the greatest gift you can give to the people you care about. The American Cancer Society is offering free I Can Cope (ICC) teleconferences. The ICC is a series of free, educational, peer support classes and is facilitated by medical or business professionals. This program is offered every month. Register April 29 for Wednesday, May 6: Nutrition During and After Cancer Treatment from 10 a.m. to noon. The facilitator is Vicky Newman, MS, RD.Patients and caregivers may register by calling toll-free (800) 227-2345. This number is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program HICAP needs volunteers. The organization is a non-profit, volunteer supported program that provides assistance to individuals with Medicare issues including health insurance information, drug plans, long-term care insurance, claim denials, appeals and grievances.HICAP will offer a comprehensive Medicare basic training class and internship program to become a registered counselor with the California Department of Aging, May 11, in Truckee.
