Truckee Tahoe, win this playhouse

Amy Edgett/Sierra Sun

TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. andamp;#8212; In response to waning financial support for the Glenshire Elementary Gifted andamp; Talented Education program, GATE, industrious students and parents developed a rollicking good time fundraiser: Win This Playhouse. The students used their imaginations and came up with a dream playhouse. The parents scaled it down to a still fanciful and do-able project, with donations from Tahoe Truckee Lumber, Kelly Moore Paints/Kelly Brothers Painting, Truckee River Glass, the Sign Source, Sierra Mountain Pipe and Supply and Pell Plumbing. The GES playhouse is a sturdy, 6-foot cube house with a 10-foot climbing wall, ladder to second story deck, a fireman’s pole, Dutch door, three windows and will be delivered to the lucky winner within the Truckee town limit. Out of area winners may pick up, it can be dismatled to fit on a trailer. Raffle tickets are $5 each or five for $20, with proceeds going toward scholarships for educational field trips. The structure can be found at various summer events, including some Truckee Thursdays. andamp;#8220;It’s an amazing thing, our community spirit,andamp;#8221; said GES teacher Jean Fournier. Hats off to Michael Fournier, Michael Smith, Andy Bechdolt, Steve Hoyt and Tom Just for putting their heads and hands together to get ‘er built. And to the Moms who kept them fed!
