Overturned truck blocks traffic on I-80

RENO, Nev. (AP) _ A big-rig truck hauling grain overturned on Interstate 80 near the Nevada-California line after the driver swerved to miss a deer near the Nevada-California line.

The Nevada Highway Patrol says the driver, 51-year-old Dennis J. West, of Paul, Idaho, was not injured in the pre-dawn accident.

But traffic was backed up for hours as the overturned truck blocked both westbound lanes. Crews also worked to clean up the spilled grain and about 50 gallons of diesel fuel that leaked from a ruptured fuel tank.

Authorities say the fuel spill was confined to the paved shoulder and travel lanes.

One lane was reopened around 6 a.m., and authorities hoped to open the other by midmorning.
