Partly cloudy and cool today, chance of snow showers late Tuesday into Wednesday
Sun news service
A cool and somewhat unstable air mass continues to linger over the Tahoe area today in the wake of an upper trough of low pressure moving east into Utah. Highs today are forecast to reach the mid 40s today under partly cloudy skies and light winds.
Lows tonight are expected to drop into the teens around the lake with partial clearing overnight.
Look for increasing clouds Tuesday as an upper level low pressure system approaches the Central California coast.
A milder southerly wind flow ahead of this system will help bring afternoon temperatures up to near 50 degrees at lake level. There will be an increasing chance of snow showers over the area Tuesday night into Wednesday as the low pushes onto the coast.
Snow fall accumulations are forecast to be light with this weather system and mainly south of I80 with an inch or two possible in the upper elevations.
