Pathway to kick off next phase

The Pathway 2007 process will kick off the next phase of its basin-wide 20-year plan today with back-to-back meetings of the forum’s constituents.

Both Thursday and Friday sessions will commence at 8:30 a.m. and include guest speakers from similar communities whose efforts to plan effectively are being emulated in the Tahoe Basin. They will be held at the Chateau in Incline Village.

Mike Vance, manager of a British Columbia-based company called Community Initiatives, which helped shape present-day Whistler, will be the featured guest today. Myles Rademan, a consultant from Park City, Utah will speak on Friday morning.

Guest speakers may provide interesting background, forum members said, but the underlying message of the meeting may be discussion over whether to renew the contract of Regional Planning Partners, the Truckee-based consulting group managed by Darin Dinsmore.

Agencies asked to participate include the Incline Village General Improvement District, Washoe County, Placer County, the City of South Lake Tahoe, El Dorado County, Douglas County and California and Nevada state parks.
