PHOTOS: Fall freeze hits Lake Tahoe; winter countdown begins

LAKE TAHOE — Fall — at least, as we know it at Lake Tahoe — made its 2016 debut Sunday, bringing a fresh coat of morning frost at lake level and a dusting of snow a bit higher in the Sierra Nevada.

Despite frigid temperatures the past few mornings, it’s forecast to get a bit warmer into the weekend. Still, we all know that winter isn’t far off.
