Pilot uninjured in plane crash Wednesday at Truckee airport

TRUCKEE, Calfi. and#8212; An airplane landing at Truckee Tahoe airport ended up off the runway and upside down Wednesday afternoon, but no one was injured, officials said.

A Cessna 170 was landing at about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, but crashed for as-of-yet unknown reasons, said Kevin Bumen, director of aviation, community relations and communications for the airport.

He said the pilot and#8212; the only occupant of the single prop plane and#8212; walked away uninjured, and the airport is now working to recover the aircraft.

Truckee Fire Public Information and Safety Officer Gene Welch said the district received a call for a downed plane off the end of the east-west runway at the airport, then the call for fire and medical response was canceled, then the district was called back for a possible fuel leak.

Bumen said no fuel spill was found, and fire crews just making sure there werenand#8217;t any problems during the recovery.
