Placer County seeks sites for gov’t center

Placer County is in the process of soliciting real estate sites on which to build its Tahoe Government Center.

The proposed center would allow for a single place for access to both general government and land-use functions that are currently in different locations on the North Shore, according to Anita Yoder, county public information officer.

The county estimates it will need a site or sites that could provide 2.2 acres for improvements including snow storage, storm water detention, landscaping and a minimum 1.5-acre permissible coverage area for building footprint and parking, Yoder said.

The county will also consider smaller sites that can be combined to meet minimum areas.

The facility will house Placer County representatives from the executive office; public information office; office of emergency services; redevelopment agency; planning, building and engineering services; and environmental health.

County officials also want to include other non-county departments and agencies whose proximity to Placer County services would enhance the delivery of public services, Yoder said.

The solicitation period will end Friday, June 2 at 3 p.m. Property owners, or their representatives, are encouraged to contact the Placer County Department of Facility Services for the solicitation package and additional information at 11476 C Avenue Auburn, CA 95603, or call 886-4970.
