Placer County to close offices for Presidents Day weekend

Sun Staff Report

Placer County offices will be closed Thursday, Feb. 12; Friday, Feb. 13 and Monday, Feb. 16 for Presidents Day weekend.

All county emergency response and 24-hour-a-day services will continue uninterrupted, including law enforcement and emergency support to individuals, such as child protective services.

No Placer County Transit bus services will be available on Monday, Feb. 16. However, transit services in North Lake Tahoe ” Tahoe Area Regional Transit ” will continue unaffected.

The closure on Friday, Feb. 13, is one of four additional days that county offices have been, or will be, closed during the next six months as part of the unpaid, mandatory time off required of approximately 2,200 county employees, including confidential and management employees.

The remaining days of closure are Monday, April 13, 2009 and Friday, May 22, 2009.

The Board of Supervisors approved the unpaid leave on Dec. 9, 2008 to partially fill a budget gap.

For additional information about Placer County transit services, please call 1-530-885-BUSS for Placer County Transit; or call (800) 736-6365 or 530-550-1212 for Tahoe Area Regional Transit.
