Placer County workshop to focus on ‘regional achievable housing’

TAHOE CITY — Solutions for the housing crisis in eastern Placer County will be the focus of a community workshop with the Placer County Board of Supervisors Monday, Jan. 28 in Kings Beach, according to a press release.

County staff will begin the workshop with an update on Placer’s housing work plan to increase the supply and variety of achievable housing, followed by a presentation by the Mountain Housing Council on the possibility of forming a regional housing authority to coordinate housing policy and programs across local jurisdictions, the release states.

The board will also hear from George Ruther, housing director for Vail, Colorado, on ways this similar mountain resort community has addressed its own housing crisis.

The workshop will be held at the North Tahoe Event Center at 1:30 p.m. The board will meet again Tuesday, Jan. 29 in Kings Beach, with actions on two achievable housing projects in North Lake Tahoe on the agenda for their consideration, the release state.
