Placer supes back Homewood, Kings Beach projects

KINGS BEACH ” The Placer County board of supervisors on Tuesday endorsed four development projects that are applying to the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency’s Community Enhancement Program.

The trial program asks developers to submit innovative concepts that meet community vision as well as environmental standards. The program is based on the agency’s special projects criteria, and will help inform the agency how to update its code of ordinances.

The supervisors supported three developments in Kings Beach for S.K. Brown, Dave Ferrari and an affordable housing project by Domus Development. They also approved JMA Ventures’ proposed development at Homewood Mountain Resort.

A representative of a fifth developer, Kings Beach Resorts, LLC, approached the board at the meeting. Randy Faccinto said the group filed its application with the county Monday. They plan to ask for the county’s pre-application endorsement soon.

“We’re moving rapidly to catch up,” Faccinto said. “We are going to finish in time to have our application in to TRPA.”

Brenda Hunt, who is coordinating the bistate planning agency’s program, said two other project proponents in the Basin have applied, one on the South Shore and one in Crystal Bay.

“Placer County has really hit the ground running on this one,” Hunt said. “We applaud your efforts.”
