What will the next year bring? Hopefully some more snow for starters. What is for sure is that the North Shore and Truckee will have no shortage of parties to help ring in the New Year. From Squaw to Incline to Truckee, the area’s nightspots will be in full swing this year. So strap on your party hat, grab a noise maker and head out the door, we’ve got you covered on where to go.Squaw ValleyWith something planned at virtually every bar and restaurant in the village, including a DJ at Bar One, live music at Plaza Bar, a party at Le Chamois and the Auld Dubliner and a party at High Camp, Squaw is a good bet to find something going on. Check out the Mission Players at High Camp if you want to attend the highest party on the North Shore.Tickets for High Camp’s party are available in Special Tickets or online at http://www.squawshop.comNorthstar-at-TahoeNorthstar is offering an open to the public, free of charge “Fire and Ice” New Year’s Eve party. There will be a street show by the Fire Pixies and live music by the Jeff Jones Band as well as fireworks at 9 p.m.Jake’s on the LakeJake’s will be offering fixed price seating New Year’s Eve, including a soup or salad, main course and dessert. Of course the price also includes party favors and a midnight champange toast. DJ Dragon will be pumping out sonic sounds all evening for patrons’ dancing pleasure.River RanchThe River Ranch located at the base of Alpine Meadows Rd. is offering a special menu for New Year’s Eve and will be open 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., the perfect start to a festive night.Tahoe BiltmoreAh the Bilti, always a good place for a party. The Biltmore will be offering two options this year, with a Havana Nights party in the Nevada Room, which includes cocktail reception starting at 8 p.m. followed by Latin/American buffet while rocking to live music by Havana Heat. The $99 cover includes cocktail reception, buffet, gift, party favors and a midnight champagne toast. Space is limited, call 1-800-245-8667 ext. 733Downstairs in the Breeze nightclub the party starts at 9 p.m. with live music by Next Level, who will play everything from Mowtown and R&B, to 70s dance hits and current hits. DJ Chill and DJ Cool Nutz will also make appearances during the evening.Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at the gift shop or by calling (775) 833-6743.Crystal Bay ClubRight across the street from the Biltmore is another great party. CBC will be running both of its stages all night long, featuring music from the Boogie Monsters and Corby Yates in the Stage Lounge for a free show. In the Crown Room, Mumbo Gumbo will be rocking their cajun rhythms after a lively opening from Hellbound Glory. Stage Lounge shows are free to watch and the Crown Room will charge a $25 admission with $30 at the door. The parties start at 9:30 p.m.Gar WoodsCarnelian Bay’s favorite spot will be rocking live music from the Neighborhood Drunks at 9 p.m. until 1:30 a.m. and offering party favors and champagne toast at midnight.Gar Woods will offer a fixed menu for both lunch and dinner.Bar of AmericaB of A will be hosting live music and a champange toast at midnight.Pierce Street AnnexPierce Street will host live DJs spinning dance beats all night long and a champagne toast at midnight. Cover is $20.Past Time ClubTruckee’s favorite hole in the wall will host Guitar Mack for New Year’s Eve.Sol y LagoThe newest addition to Tahoe City’s nightlife and dining scene will be testing out their new integrated Bose sound system with a lineup of DJs from 10:30 p.m. on. Dining operations will be normal, with no fixed menu but some special Holiday dishes.Downtown RenoIf you feel like going down the hill, Circus Circus, Club Cal Neva, Eldorado, Fitzgerald’s, Harrah’s, Silver Legacy and the City of Reno have banned together to put on a fireworks show shot from the rooftops of the various downtown clubs. Taxi CabsDon’t be “that guy” who starts the New Year off on the wrong foot – shackled to the other one in a Nevada or Placer County correctional facility. Take down these numbers, put them in your cell phone and take them out with you.
