SOUTH LAKE TAHOE ” Weak high pressure over the Great Basin will continue the dry weather pattern over the next few days with a gradual warming trend in daytime temperatures. High temperatures are projected to reach the mid 60s in the Tahoe Basin on Tuesday and into the upper 60s and lower 70s on Wednesday and Thursday. Clear skies, light winds and low humidities will allow overnight temperatures to drop below freezing at most locations with readings in the mid 20s expected Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.

Most computer forecast models are showing a low pressure trough moving into the Pacific Northwest on Friday. Gusty south to southwest winds will develop Friday ahead of an approaching cold front which will move across the area Friday evening. While this front appears to be relatively dry on the models, don’t be surprised to see some rain showers in the Basin with a dusting of snow in the upper elevations late Friday into Saturday morning.

Dry conditions are forecast for later Saturday into Sunday ahead of the next frontal system forecast to move into the area Monday. This has been an active weather pattern for late September and certainly a dramatic end to a very warm and dry summer.
