Police seek man who allegedly sexually assaulted 10-year-old girl

AUBURN, Calif. and#8212; Police are searching for a man they say sexually assaulted a 10-year-old girl Monday at the Auburn Recreation District Park at 123 Recreation Drive.

Police were called to the park at about 3:30 p.m. The girl had been assaulted in the women’s bathroom, next to the public swimming pool, officials said. She was taken to a local hospital.

The suspect was seen running from the area after the assault. He is described as a white man in his late 30s, with short blond or gray hair that was messy or spiked. He was wearing a red tank top or cut-off T-shirt and shorts. He is about 5-foot-10 and weighs about 180 pounds, according to police, who had no other details.

Responding officers worked with the Auburn Recreation District Park staff to ensure the safety of the remaining children at the park as well as the on-site daycare facility. The staff at the daycare facility did a lock down of the children until parents picked them up.

Anyone with information about this case should call the Auburn Police Department at (530) 823-4237, ext. 207.
