Police vehicles chosen
Truckee police may soon have a fleet of 4-wheel drive police vehicles.
Truckee Police Chief Dan Boon selected 11 vehicles to be used by the new police department.
The fleet will include six police-equipped marked Ford Expeditions, four equipped unmarked Expeditions and one equipped mid-size pick-up.
Town staff has also received a bid for a 4-wheel drive sport utility vehicle for the chief from Peoples Chrysler Plymouth Jeep.
Radios and mobile data computers will also be added to the vehicles but staff has recommended that Town Council defer purchasing the computers until next year when sufficient funding will be available.
The town budgeted $467,505 for the expense. The current total price for the vehicles is $455,971.
Town Council will review the potential purchase in tonight’s Town Council meeting at 6 p.m. in Town Hall.
