A Nevada based power company will offer cash rebates to residential customers who install solar generating technology.

On 10 a.m. on July 16 Sierra Pacific Power Company will begin taking applications via their Web site http://www.solargenerations.com. The power generator will only take applications online on a first come first serve basis for 15 days. The cutoff for applications is July 31. The projects approved for rebate must be completed by December 31. Senior program manager John Hargrove said that no more than six applications will be accepted.

“It’s a limiting number no question about it,” Hargrove said. “But this is a very expensive thing to do.”

Sierra Pacific serves over 40,000 residential customers that are located mostly in the Lake Tahoe basin. They also provide power to some portions of Truckee, Portola, Alpine County, Coleville and Walker.

The rebate will be a maximum of $15,000 per household and could be less depending on the amount of electricity the customer can produce. Customers can also learn more about the program by calling 866-786-3823.
