Prep roundup: Laker golfers stay unbeaten

The North Tahoe girls’ golf team improved to 4-0 on the season, dominating their league opponents by 82 strokes to take the win on Tuesday at Empire Ranch in Carson City.

Junior Libby Webb led the Lakers with a 12-over-par, 84 to finish in second place individually.

Senior Franny Gramanz finished in fifth place with a 91, sophomore Baylie Gensburg carded a 99 to take sixth place, and junior Alicia Buckmaster and sophomore Sky Myers both finished with a score of 188 to give North Tahoe five golfers in the top 10.



Incline senior Shannon Hugar took first place individually with a score of 79. As a team, Incline finished in third place with a combined score of 483.

The Lakers will head to the par-72, Toiyabe Golf Club in Washoe Valley on Wednesday for their next tournament.



Tennis: Lady Wolverines remain unbeaten

The Truckee girls’ tennis team improved to 6-0 following Tuesday’s 13-5 win at South Tahoe.

Senior Mia Jones led Truckee with three singles win. In doubles, junior Paige Wilcox and senior Bryce Manning won all three of their matches.

On the boys’ side, Truckee suffered a 13-5 loss at South Tahoe. Freshman Kiefer Willcox and junior Gavin Spear led the Wolverines with two wins apiece in singles play.

Local teams will next head into the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association Class 3A Northern League Team Tennis Championships, set for Monday, Oct. 10.

Soccer: North Tahoe girls shut out sixth straight opponent

The last six opponents to face the Class 2A North Tahoe girls’ soccer team have gone home scoreless.

During that span the Lakers have piled up 53 goals, and are coming off a season-high 14-goal performance at home against Yerington on Wednesday.

Sophomore Sienna Clark and senior Ella Costello each netted a trio of goals. Junior Keadle Verkler had two goals and four assists. Junior Ginnny Gibeaut, freshman Olive Wilson, senior Ashley Negrete, senior Sophia Jeffery, senior Lucia Vail, and freshman Belinda Little also netted goals for the Lakers.

North Tahoe (8-3, 6-0 Northern League) will play Sage Ridge (7-0, 7-0 Northern League) Friday at home.

Volleyball: Lakers take fourth straight win

The North Tahoe volleyball team continued to assert itself as a force in Class 2A, topping Incline 3-1 on Tuesday to win a fourth straight match.

Junior Alana Hendricks led the Lakers with 15 kills. Junior Miya Casci had nine kills and 27 assists. Junior Lola Williams had eight kills and at team-high three blocks.

North Tahoe (15-5, 5-1 Northern League) will face Coral Academy of Science – Reno (2-9, 2-4, Northern League) at home on Friday.

In Class 3A, Truckee improved to 3-0 in league play after topping North Valleys on Wednesday in straight sets.

The Wolverines cruised to a third straight win, topping the Panthers 25-15, 25-14, 25-14.

Truckee (7-9, 3-0 Northern – West League) will travel to face rivals South Tahoe (3-6, 3-0 Northern – West League) on Monday.
