Prescribed fire operations continue today on Tahoe’s West Shore

Staff report

TAHOE CITY, Calif. – U.S. Forest Service fuels management crews will continue prescribed fire operations in the Timberland area of Lake Tahoe’s West Shore on Monday. Crews anticipate burning three acres over the next several days, conditions permitting, according to a Monday morning press release.

“Residents and visitors can expect to see smoke from this prescribed fire project area,” officials said in the release. “The Forest Service strives to minimize the impacts of smoke on local communities. Smoke-sensitive residents should consider staying indoors and keeping doors, windows and outside vents closed.”

To directly receive prescribed fire updates, residents can send an email to pa_ltbmu@fs.fed.us. Forest Service staff will post road signs around areas affected by prescribed fire, and update the local fire information line at 530-543-2600, No. 6.
