Prescribed fires on West Shore cancelled due to non-ideal fuel conditions

Staff Reports

LAKE TAHOE and#8212; Fuels conditions on Lake Tahoe’s West Shore, near the McKinney/Rubicon area, resulted in the cancellation of prescribed fire operations scheduled to begin Wednesday morning.

U.S. Forest Service fuels management crews shifted their focus back to the Meyers and Pioneer Trail areas, according to a forest service press release; operations in those areas will continue through the week, depending on weather and fuels conditions.

Residents and visitors can expect to see smoke from prescribed fire project areas, according to the release; smoke management is part of every prescribed fire burn plan, and efforts will be taken to reduce actual or potential smoke impacts on community areas.
