Primary registration deadline May 4

“There are only twelve days left in which to register to vote for the June 2 primary election. Monday, May 4, is the deadline,” County Clerk Bruce Bolinger reminds voters.

“Anyone who is not registered to vote and is a U.S. citizen, 18 years of age or older on or before the June 2 election, and not in prison or on parole for a felony conviction should register by May 4. Also, anyone who is already registered, but who has moved, should re-register,” he said.

To register to vote, people need to complete a registration form and mail it to the Elections Department of the County Clerk’s office. The forms, which are preaddressed and postage paid, are available at 18 locations in the Truckee area, including the Post Offices, DMV, County Offices (Library, Municipal Court, Mental Health, and Social

Services), Truckee Donner PUD, Truckee-Donner Recreation and Park District, Tahoe-Truckee High School, Long’s, Lucky’s, American Mail Center (by Safeway), Northwoods Country Club, Truckee-Donner Congregate Housing, Tahoe Forest Hospital and the visitor’s center (downtown Truckee) or by calling the Elections office in Nevada City at 265-1298.

As long as a voter registration card is completed, dated, and mailed no later than May 4, it can be accepted by the county clerk if it arrives in his office by no later than Friday, May 8.
