Races on tap within six Tahoe/Truckee government districts for Election Day
TAHOE/TRUCKEE andamp;#8212; Below is the official list of Truckee/North Tahoe races for the 2012 general election, according to Nevada and Placer counties, and the qualified candidates for each.In all, seats are up for election in 14 local districts/agencies. While there are a number of seats featuring only one candidate, races will occur within the following districts:andamp;#8226; Truckee Tahoe Airport District: four candidates for three 4-year seats.andamp;#8226; North Tahoe Fire Protection District: two candidates for one 4-year seat (District 1).andamp;#8226; North Tahoe Public Utility District: all three 4-year seats (Districts 2, 4, 5) have two candidates running.andamp;#8226; Truckee Donner Public Utility District: four candidates for three 4-year seats.andamp;#8226; Tahoe City Public Utility District: two candidates for one 4-year seat (District 3); two candidates for one 4-year seat (District 4).andamp;#8226; Truckee Town Council: three candidates for two 4-year seats; three candidates for one 2-year seat.Details of each race, along with important dates to remember, are below. September 10: Write-in candidate-filing period begins.September 27: Sample ballots may be mailed to voters. October 5: Last day to file 1st pre-election campaign statements (from last statement to 9/30/12).October 8: First day to issue vote-by-mail ballots. October 21: Last day to file 2nd pre-election campaign statement from 10/1/2012 andamp;#8211; 10/20/2012).October 21-November 5, 2012: Contributions and independent expenditures of $1,000 or more need to be reported within 24 hours.October 22: Last day to register for this election. October 23: Close of write-in candidate-filing period.October 25: Last day to file 2nd pre-election campaign statements (from last statement to 10/20/12). October 30: Last day to request vote-by-mail ballot by mail. November 6: Election Day
