Raid on pot growing farm yields 3,500 plants

The Associated Press

SONOMA ” Three Mexican nationals are under arrest for growing 3,500 pot plants in a remote area near Lake Sonoma.

Sonoma County Sheriff Sgt. Kevin Young said the operation, about 15 miles west of Lake Sonoma, included hot houses, a spring tapped for water, traps set to catch small animals and three tents.

Those nabbed in the Monday raid are 61-year-old Jesus Lopez of Veracruz; 50-year-old Roylan Carbajoa of Jalisco; and 38-year-old Victor Chavez of Michoacan.

They are being held without bail on suspicion of cultivation of marijuana and possession of marijuana for sale.
