Placer County sheriff’s deputies said they are still investigating the alleged rape of a woman who was punched in the face and raped near the Coon Street boat ramp in Kings Beach on Sept. 11.

Placer County Sheriff Lt. John Addoms said he could not comment as to possible suspects or investigation details.

Authorities said a man described as possibly of Middle Eastern descent, 30-years-old with short, black hair, and 5 feet 8 inches tall approached the woman and began a conversation near the boat ramp.

He then asked the woman to walk to a secluded picnic table, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The man called himself “Sonny” and spoke accented English. He was wearing a white shirt and jeans, authorities said.

There were no other witnesses to the assault, said Addoms.

The woman had noticeable swelling on her face when she reported the incident, said Addoms. She was taken to a Roseville hospital for a sexual assault evaluation.
