Readers write: Bears are not pets

Chantel Young-Tahoma

Another bear put down because of human stupidity. The woman was warned about leaving food out and told to stop letting her dog play with the bear by an expert, and yet she continued. How much plainer can it be made? I wonder what she thought was going to happen when she walked right up to a BEAR? Its a wild animal not a pet! We invaded the bears environment and we are the ones responsible for not encouraging their misbehavior. Now an animal is dead because someone couldnt muster up the responsibility to treat a wild animal like a wild animal. Rather than less bears in the basin we could do with less thoughtless, irresponsible people.
