Regional water study spurs public outreach; meeting next week at PUD

TRUCKEE, Calif. andamp;#8212; The Truckee Donner Public Utility District, Northstar Community Services District and Placer County Water Agency have partnered on a Martis Valley aquifer study that could potentially lay groundwork for regional water decisions for many years to comeA public workshop is slated for 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the PUDandamp;#8217;s offices at 11570 Donner Pass Road to introduce the community to the groundwater management plan within the Martis Valley.According to the PUD, development of the plan began earlier this year and is expected to take about 24 months to complete. The partner agencies are sharing the estimated $250,000 cost, based on their number of customers, with TDPUD contributing $150,000, Northstar CSD $60,000 and PCWA $40,000.This collaborative effort was also able to leverage an additional $500,000 in federal funding from the Bureau of Reclamation, according to the PUD.
