Remembering those who served

Truckee Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 2675 and the Truckee Civil Air Cadets will hold a Memorial Day ceremony to honor veterans and families of veterans in the Truckee-Tahoe community.

The ceremony will be held on Monday, May 31, at 10 a.m., at the Sierra Mountain Cemetery in Truckee. The featured speaker will be Truckee Mayor Josh Susman.

After the ceremony, there will be a Memorial Day barbecue at the Sierra Meadows Homeowners Association Recreation Center in Sierra Meadows at 1:30 p.m. Free tickets will be available at the Memorial Day ceremony.



As part of the ceremony, members of the Truckee VFW, the Civil Air Cadets, and Boy Scout Troop 267 will place a flag at the grave of each veteran buried at the Sierra Mountain Cemetery. Placing of the flags will be on Sunday, May 30, at 4 p.m. Members of the public are invited to participate if they desire. Truckee VFW Post will provide flags.
