Reno gunshot victim operated on, then arrested in town

Staff reportsA Reno gunshot victim ended up Sunday in the Tahoe Forest Hospital’s emergency room – and then in custody.Richard Griner III, 21, of Reno was dropped of at the hospital by friends at about 3 p.m. Sunday with gunshot wounds to his upper leg and lower abdomen area, according to the Truckee Police Department. Griner was rushed to surgery where doctors removed a bullet from his stomach.A Truckee police press release said that further investigation with the Reno Police Department revealed that Griner had been shot in Reno earlier in the day. The vehicle used to drop Griner off at the hospital matched one involved in the shooting. Truckee police identified two individuals who dropped Griner off at the hospital and released them at the request of Reno police, the press release said.Griner had two outstanding felony drug warrants from Washoe County. As of Monday, he was recovering at Tahoe Forest Hospital and will be transported to Washoe County jail as soon he is cleared by doctors, the release said. Truckee police are working with their counterparts in Reno regarding the shooting.
