Sun news service

A Reno woman sustained minor injuries in a single-vehicle accident on Highway 20 near the White Cloud picnic area at 4 a.m. this morning, the CHP reported.

Shirley Redfearn, 52, was driving eastbound in her black Toyota Avalon at an unsafe speed around a right curve when she lost control and crashed into a tree in a snowy embankment, said CHP Officer Jeff Pingree.

A nearby motorist took Redfearn to Tahoe Forest Hospital in Truckee. Redfearn was complaining of pain to the right side of her neck and her left rib cage, Pingree said.

There was no indication alcohol was involved in the accident, he said.
