Renowned doctor to present in Truckee on prescription drug dangers

Dr. Roneet Lev

TRUCKEE, Calif. — Dr. Roneet Lev, a prescription drug safety champion and 2015 National Rx Drug Abuse Summit keynote speaker, will present to Tahoe-Truckee community members next week.

Her presentation will center on prescription drug abuse, as well as national and local safety efforts. The free event is scheduled for 4-5:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, at the Tahoe Forest Hospital Eskridge Conference Room, at 10121 Pine Ave. in Truckee.

Dr. Lev, known for bringing organizations and people to work together around safe prescribing practices, will present alongside two of Tahoe Forest Health System’s staff, Eileen Knudson, RN, and Lori Beldon, RN.

Lev serves as Director of Operations at Scripps Mercy Hospital, and she is chair of the San Diego County Rx Drug Abuse Medical Task Force, which works on reducing morbidity from prescriptions.

Her program on safe prescribing won the 2014 National Association of Counties award, and is adopted throughout California.

Residents, health care providers, school staff, counselors, parents, law enforcement and others are encouraged to attend the Truckee event, which is sponsored by Tahoe-Truckee Future Without Drug Dependence.

While free, community members must RSVP to TT-FWDD Project Coordinator Devin Bradley at devin.bradley@co.nevada.ca.us or by calling 530-550-2309.
