Resorts eye season openers

Sunday night, the first snow of the season fell and winter sports came to the forefronts of people’s minds.

Area resorts, encouraged by the snow and dropping temperatures, have set the snow blowers on high and are tentatively setting their opening dates.

The dates are all pending on the continued dropping temperatures.

“We’re starting to make it now,” said a representative at Squaw Valley, “but if it warms up at all, then we’re back to square one.”

“It’ll probably be a partial opening,” said Nancy Barna of Northstar-at-Tahoe, “unless mother nature kicks in here soon.”

“There probably won’t be any top of the mountain action,” said Boreal’s Carrie Roberts, “but hopefully by the weekend there will be.”
