Road work ahead at Sierra College

Construction on the Sierra College Tahoe-Truckee Campus is entering its final stages, but before things are wrapped up expect road work.

Construction of the permanent campus entry from Highway 89, and related street improvements, has started and is scheduled to be completed in late August.

The outer northbound lane of Highway 89 from the Mouse hole to Interstate 80 will be closed until July 1 to allow for the construction of pedestrian bridge abutments, side walk, retaining wall, utilities and a bus stop.

Temporary daytime lane closures on Highway 89 will be required to install signals and crosswalk at Deerfield Drive. The new bridge and storm drains will be installed in June. In July and August, crews will work at night to build a new left-turn lane for the college entry and a U-turn lane at Deerfield.
