Popular 80s cover band Tainted Love is returning to the North Shore Saturday night for another rendezvous with the past at the Crystal Bay Club.

The seven-piece San Francisco band boasts a deep collection of ‘80s hits, including songs like Rick Springfield’s “Jessie’s Girl,” Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance With Somebody,” Poison’s “Every Rose Has Its Thorn” and When In Rome’s “The Promise,” as well as plenty of Prince, Michael Jackson, Van Halen, Journey and Madonna tunes.

The band puts on a “sweaty, rockin’, fist pumpin’, booty shakin’ and neon spandex sportin’ evening,” according to a recent post on their Facebook page.

The band’s Yelp.com page is full of glowing accounts, with the group racking up a five-star average after 25 reviews.

“Well, go watch Tainted Love and prepare for your mind to be BLOWN,” according to one commenter. “Because: Dang! They take these hoary ol’ 80’s tunes and OWN them. The musicians are all amazing, professional, highly talented and skilled, and know how to put on a concert that’s fun from the first note. The set list is pretty varied — you wouldn’t likely find one radio station playing “Pour Some Sugar on Me,” “Into the Groove,” and “I Wanna Be Sedated” in the 80’s … yet somehow, at a Tainted Love concert, it works. They choose upbeat songs that pretty much anyone would know, so it really is a party.”
