Rural technology meeting announced

NEVADA COUNTY “-Nevada County has invited chief information officers from more than 30 counties to a one day rural technology conference this Friday, Feb. 6 at the Rood Center in Nevada City.

Participants will discuss technology challenges facing rural counties.

Representatives from the State of California’s Office of the CIO, California Public Utility Commission and RCRC will discuss the state’s preparation for rural broadband funding using a federal stimulus package.

The federal package includes $6.2 billion for rural broadband projects nationwide. The state has an additional $160 million for broadband and telecommunication projects.
