School board: Olk wins, Collin to return

Staff reportsThe Tahoe Truckee Unified School District board will have one returning face and one new one, according to the latest election tallies.In Area 2, which represents the Prosser, Glenshire and Hirschdale areas in Truckee, incumbent candidate Dan Collin slid through to a win because of votes he garnered in the Placer County area of the school district. In Nevada and El Dorado counties Collin lost to challenger Monty Folsom by a slim 20-vote margin.However, on the Placer County side of the district voters opted for Collin by a greater margin, which led him to an overall 4,378 to 4,319 victory, according to the latest numbers.For the Area 3 seat, which stretches from the state line to Dollar Hill on Tahoe’s north shore, Carnelian Bay resident John R. Falk lost to Kristy Olk. According to the latest numbers, Olk nearly doubled Falk’s votes, winning by approximately 3,000 votes. Olk will take the seat held by Karen Van Epps on the school board.Stay tuned to for the latest results on the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District board race.
