School district heads back to the ballot

Voters wanting to learn more about Proposition U, the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District’s request for building and technology improvements, will have a number of public meetings to ask questions to the district.

Starting Tuesday, Sept. 16, the district will invite the public to hear why the district feels its structures have fallen into disrepair, and why technology investments need to be increased. The item will appear on the Nov. 4 ballot.

According to the District, Measure U will generate $93 million, most of which will work within a similar measure “-Measure C ” that passed in 1999. The extension of that measure failed to win a 55 percent majority to pass earlier this year.

For more information, visit, or look for more upcoming stories on the issue in the Sierra Sun.

Meeting dates: Sept. 16, Sept. 30, Oct. 14, Oct. 28

Time: 5:15-6:15 p.m. p.m.

Location: Truckee High School auditorium
