Search for Fossett suspended

The official search for famed aviator Steve Fossett has been suspended, according to the Associated Press.

Search headquarters moved from Minden to Carson City two weeks ago. The aerial search was suspended about the same time.

A new lead, lead to an exhaustive search of the area southeast of the Flying M Ranch, where Fossett took off for a Labor Day flight in a borrowed aircraft.

The search has been the largest in Nevada history.

Searchers said that with the beginning of deer hunting season, there is a chance Fossett’s aircraft will be found. Hunters are asked to contact local authorities if they spot anything.
